Martensitic stainless steel consists of iron, chromium, nickel and other elements, belonging to a class of heat-treated stainless steel. Common martensitic stainless steel grade are: 410, 420, 431, 440C, 501 stainless steel and so on.

Ferritic stainless steel contains 15%-30% chromium. This kind of steel generally does not contain nickel, and sometimes contains a small amount of Mo, Ti, Nb and other elements. This kind of steel has the characteristics of large thermal conductivity, small expansion coefficient, good oxidation resistance, excellent stress corrosion resistance and so on. It is mostly used in the manufacture of parts resistant to atmospheric, water vapor, water and oxidizing acid corrosion.

In addition, according to the composition can be divided into: chromium stainless steel, chromium nickel stainless steel and chromium manganese nitrogen stainless steel. Common ferritic stainless steel grades are:409,430,439,441,444 stainless steel, etc.

Austenitic stainless steel refers to stainless steel with austenitic structure at room temperature. The steel has stable austenitic structure when Cr is about 18%, Ni 8%-25% and C is about 0.1%. Austenitic stainless steel is non-magnetic and has high toughness and plasticity, but the strength is low, it is impossible to strengthen through phase transformation, can only be strengthened by cold processing, such as adding S, Ca, Se, Te and other elements. Common austenitic stainless steel grades are:

301,302,303,304,309,310,316,321,347 stainless steel and so on.

Dual steel is composed of martensitic or austenitic and ferritic matrix steel, this kind of steel has the characteristics of austenitic and ferritic stainless steel, compared with ferritic steel, plasticity, toughness, no room temperature brittleness, intergranular corrosion resistance and welding performance are significantly improved, but also maintain the brittleness of ferritic stainless steel and high thermal conductivity, has the characteristics of superplasticity. Compared with austenitic stainless steel, it has higher strength and better resistance to intergranular corrosion and chloride stress corrosion. Dual stainless steel has excellent corrosion resistance and is also a nickel stainless steel. Common dual stainless steel grades are: 255,329, 220,250, 2304,S31500,S31803 stainless steel and so on.

Precipitation hardening stainless steel refers to the addition of different types and quantities of strengthening elements on the basis of the chemical composition of stainless steel, through the precipitation hardening process precipitation of different types and quantities of carbide, nitride, carbon nitride and intermetallic compounds, both to improve the strength of steel and maintain enough toughness of a class of high strength stainless steel, PH steel for short. The matrix structure of precipitated hardened stainless steel may be martensite or austenite, depending on the composition and treatment process. Common precipitation-hardened stainless steel grades are: 416,2294,630,631,660 stainless steel and other grades.
